The nano tech in Tokyo, the world's largest international exhibition for nanotechnology, once again attracts nanotechnology experts around the world. From February 14-16, 2018 more than 50,000 international visitors are expected to visit the Big Sight exhibition center in Tokyo.

Focal points of the nano tech 2018 are innovative advanced materials such as graphene and fullerenes, nanoparticles, nano coatings, nano inks and nano composites, carbon nanotubes, photonic, magnetic and biocompatible materials as well as nano-based fabrication technologies and evaluation and measurement applications down to the nanometer scale. The products and technologies presented are used in a wide variety of industries, such as the area of IT, software and electronics, the automotive industry, aerospace and life sciences. Trend topics include the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).

The IVAM Microtechnology Network will attend the nano tech once more and presents a joint pavilion within the "German Area". The following international exhibitors will introduce their product innovations on-site:

As an industry-oriented research institute Fraunhofer ISC develops materials, coating solutions, customized nanoparticles as well as cost-efficient production and upscaling processes and offers extensive nano analyses and testing. At the fair, Fraunhofer ISC will present nanotechnology-based project work as well as functional prototypes, including ultra-barrier materials, functional coatings and nanoparticles, micro-optics and microelectronics, dielectrics and passivation for electrical interconnection technology as well as nano-imprint, TPA and 2PP technology.

GrapheneTech will present its "Graphene Nanoplatelets Powder" at the trade fair. The powder is produced using a proprietary top-down green process based on mechanical exfoliation, without the use of any chemical or solvent. This patented method allows tuning the manufacture process to obtain different grades of graphene nanoplatelets with different characteristics that will ensure the adaptation of the material to the final application of each client. Currently Graphene-Tech supplies three grades of graphene nanoplatelets (GP500, GP300, GP100) as well as dispersions.

The Institute of plastics technology of the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences will present itself and its research at the nano tech 2018. The University is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany with around 16,000 students and over 60 degree programs. The university’s range of programs and research capacities extends from engineering sciences, mathematics, information science and computer science to management, social sciences, and social work, as well as architecture, media, and design.

At the fair, Multiphoton Optics GmbH will present a LithoProf3D structuring platform for high-precision 3D printing, which is used, among other things, for applications in the field of optics / photonics, life sciences, biomedicine, or mask production. The company manufactures 3D laser lithography systems for the production of optical packages and biomedical products and offers a prototyping and manufacturing service. LithoP&E prototyping and engineering support for industry, institutes, universities and consulting services, for example with respect to the implementation of conventional two- and three-dimensional process technologies, like high-precision 3D printing, are also part of the product portfolio.

Nano Coatings S.L. is a cutting-edge start-up company founded in October 2014. They focus on obtaining synthetic diamond by using highly advanced technological processes. Their own technology for diamond coating synthesis, based on PECVD, makes the company capable of producing virtually any type of diamond material. They commercialize the range of products, both synthetic single crystal diamond and polycrystalline diamond coatings, for industrial applications such as optics, electronics or cutting tools, amongst others, and jewelry.

Furthermore, it will be possible to make contact with the Nanoinitiative Bayern GmbH, whose focus is on networking of SMEs with each other and with universities, universities of applied sciences and research institutions. They facilitate an efficient transfer of R&D&I results into marketable products and the promotion of cooperation aiming at concrete projects, i.e. in the field of nanocarbon materials, nano inks, nanosilver or nano-analytics. Core competencies are the initiation, support and coordination of projects and networks up to the complete project management, the support of project proposals and the organization of customer-specific innovation workshops and seminars.

Being an international high-tech network, the IVAM Microtechnology Network has been supporting companies and institutes from all over the world for more than 20 years. One of the key tasks of the association is to create synergies and to support its members in sharing knowledge, initiating collaborative projects, and building relationships with each other and potential clients. Through targeted technology marketing, IVAM accelerates the implementation of innovative ideas into marketable products.
